Conveyor Belt Sushi!

Last night, we went out with our friend to have some sushi at a Kaiten-zushi restaurant. It was great! This type of restaurant had a conveyor belt in the center of the room with tables and bar stool seating all around it. In the middle and on one side, master sushi chefs were preparing and adding plates of sushi to the conveyor belt. Slowly, all the delicious foods circulate the room and you can pick whatever you want as it passes your table. Each plate was only ¥137. :)

Some highlights of what we tried: Ebi, (Shrimp tempura), Maguro (Tuna sashimi), Ika (squid sashimi), Kappa-maki and Tekka-maki (Cucumber and Tuna Rolls), Crab and Octopus salad in seaweed rolls, Salmon Roe,
and ... raw horsemeat!

I tried the horsemeat and made sure there was photographic evidence. There were two kinds; one was red and the other whitish. Both were actually quite good. Sorry Mr. Ed!

Afterwards, we went to Fenway Park Bar. It was run by two Japanese brothers who like to be called Tiger-san and Dragon-san. They are huge Red Sox fans. Tiger-san even had the chance to go to a game at Fenway in Boston to present an award to Hideki Okajima. And, during the evening, they turned on the commemorative DVD of the 2004 Red Sox season. Awesome!

But, the most interesting part of this outing was when a random Japanese fellow (probably 40-45 years old) asked to take our picture with his cell phone. Apparently, gaijins wearing yukatas are interesting. We attracted a lot of attention all night... especially since Chris was decked out as well and it wasn't a holiday.

You two look great in your yukatas! And the horsemeat was very attractively presented. Way to be adventurous.
