Trick or Treat!
You might think that I am at least 15 years too old to dress up and go trick-or-treating. You might think it would be unusual to go trick-or-treating with kids at least 18 years younger than I am. But, you'd be wrong.
I went to Obaku to help make ハローウィン (Haroowin) trick or treating "more authentic" for my new friend Midori-san and her two children Jasper-chan and Jenny-chan. They are the two dressed as a mummy and something in a gold mask. It was really fun. The kids all knew right away what my costume was, but they were skeptical about my "magic wand". They seemed fairly sure that it was, in fact, a chopstick.
Most of the neighbors had no idea what was going on and Midori-san had to explain the traditions of Halloween and why we were all dressed up. Some of her friends were warned in advance and had goodies ready. We got some interesting loot including takoyaki (octopus ball) flavored snacks, shrimp sticks, and individually wrapped Jelly cups in "fruit" flavors. Hmm. I might have to seek out some Snickers to finish celebrating properly!

How awesome! Way to spread the Halloween cheer.
Abbe and I were in the Leesburg Halloweeen Parade, marching with various Democratic local candidates. Abbe road on a truck with Calla and threw candy to the kids watching the parade. It was a ton of fun.
Awesome costume! You're Lavender Brown, aren't you? ;-)
No no... she's Nymphadora Tonks. :)
