Concert in Katano-shi
This Sunday, I attended a Christmas concert in Katano-shi, a suburb of Kyoto. The program was mostly duets between a flute and a piano. But, there was also an enjoyable intermission for tea and sweets! After that, there was a group sing along of a few Christmas carols (and popular songs) in Japanese. I think I did admirably on reading the lyrics and trying to sing along. But, I will admit to switching back into English for Joy to the World. I like that carol too much to pass up a chance to sing it!
My reason for attending was that my friend Dominikus, from Germany, was on the program playing his チター, which I think is a zither in English. Here's a quick video of him performing a traditional Bavarian Christmas song. The crowd loved him!
Stay tuned for a post about what happened after the concert... it's very interesting!
