Bread Becomes Blanket

Warning! This is not an intellectually substantial post. If any of our faithful readers have come seeking such a post... I intend to sorely disappoint you.

Do you remember Miffy, a cartoon drawn by Dick Bruna? She appeared in dozens of kids books such as "Miffy at the Zoo", a favorite of mine from my nursery school years. For some reason, she is everywhere in Japan. Miffy appears on lunchboxes, clothes, shoes, toys and she is the mascot (spokescharacter?) for a brand of bread which was running the following promotion: Collect 15 Miffy points before 11/30/07 and earn a Fleece Miffy Blanket.

Today, I went to exchange my points for a blanket, much to the amusement of the grocery store staff. I can't decide if they were laughing at my possibly funny Japanese sentence (Kore o buranketto to kookan suru onegaishimasu), or at the fact that an almost 30 year old pranced into their store to get a blanket emblazoned with a bunny popular amongst toddlers. Doesn't bother me either way... It's cold and I'm cozy. :)
