Weekend in Virginia

This weekend, we headed south for Virginia and several fun events including spending the night with good friends in Leesburg, attending a bridal shower in Williamsburg, getting to see my brother, Charlie, in Arlington and finally meeting his very awesome girlfriend, Erin.

Beth's bridal shower was a lot of fun. It was a nice treat to get to see so many of my college friends, especially since living in Japan made it tough to be around for any major events in the past year. Beth's matron of honor, Beta, planned a really fun party with a theme of "Marriage and the Magic Box." Considering how much Beth loves TV, this was a brilliant idea. :) We even played a DVD-based TV trivia game as part of the celebration. After the shower, we all headed to New Town Williamsburg to catch a showing of the new Ricky Gervais/Greg Kinnear/Teá Leoni movie, Ghost Town. The movie was fairly funny and more of a romantic comedy than I expected. Look for a small role played by The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi.

While I was living it up in Williamsburg with the ladies, Chris stayed behind in Leesburg so that he and Evan could go canvassing for Obama and Congresswoman Judy Feder in Loudoun County. They also had a Guys Night complete with homemade lasagna and board games.

It's nice to be able to drive to visit friends and family instead of having to fly across the country or across the world! This may explain why we will be taking weekend road trips on four of the next five weekends as well.
